Dignity Action Month is an annual opportunity for health and social care workers, and members of the public to uphold people’s rights to dignity and provide truly memorable activities for people who use care services.
Dignity Action Month reminds us how vital it is to treat every person with compassion, respect, and understanding- values that we use for our care at Swimbridge all year round.
For our residents, dignity means feeling comfortable and confident in their own home. It’s about being supported in a way that protects independence while offering reassurance and kindness when it’s needed.
Our Commitment to Dignity at Swimbridge
-
Promoting choice and control in everyday life
-
Respecting personal routines, beliefs, and preferences
-
Providing care with empathy, patience, and professionalism
-
Supporting residents to maintain their sense of identity
Dignity is built through small, thoughtful actions, taking time to explain, offering reassurance, and ensuring residents feel involved and respected.
3 Little Deeds – Small Actions, Big Impact
As part of Dignity Action Month, we’re supporting the 3 Little Deeds initiative, which encourages everyone to take simple, meaningful actions that promote dignity in everyday life. The idea is to choose three small commitments that can make a real difference to the people you interact with — whether that’s a loved one, a colleague, or someone in your care.
This year, the focus is on a few key areas:
-
Becoming a Dignity Champion by standing up for respectful, person-centred care
-
Starting conversations about dignity, helping to raise awareness and understanding
-
Sharing a positive story, celebrating moments where dignity has made a difference
-
Taking practical action that supports dignity in everyday life
These actions don’t have to be big — sometimes the smallest gestures have the greatest impact. If you’d like to get involved or learn more, you can find further information and ideas on the website below:
