Adding a new wing to Swimbridge House Nursing Home

Swimbridge House Nursing Home have recently completed an extension with 15 new bedrooms.  Each new bedroom has en-suite facilities with a shower and is tastefully decorated, with a unique and homely feel.  Since individuality is at the heart of our vision, residents are welcome to personalise their rooms by bringing special photograph, mementoes and items of furniture.  To provide an environment suited for high quality care, all bedrooms have electric profiling beds, usability aids and a nurse call system. Other features include a wide corridor for easy wheelchair access, underfloor heating, ceiling hoists and grab-rails.

Resident Rooms

Swimbridge House has a total of 44 bedrooms (all for single occupancy) on ground and first floor for residents’ use, all with lovely views of the surrounding countryside or overlooking our extensive gardens. All except two of the rooms have en-suite toilets and washbasins, with half of the bedrooms having en-suite wetrooms.

ave electric profiling beds, usability aids and a nurse call system. Other features include a new dining room – lounge, a large lift suited for ambulance beds, wide corridors for easy wheelchair access, underfloor heating, ceiling hoists and grab-rails.

First floor bedrooms are reached by two lifts and two staircases. Rooms are of various sizes and character, individually decorated. Each room is equipped with a nurse call system, night lights, single or nursing bed duvet covers, a wardrobe, bedside table, arm chair and table. Most rooms exceed 12 sqm, many even exceed 14 sqm, and are suitable for accommodating wheel chair-bound residents.

The three bright, comfortable and sunny lounges are well equipped with arm chairs and fitted laminate flooring and have views of the garden. Side corners allow family and friends to be welcomed in a homely, private environment. French doors lead to south and west facing gardens When weather permits, residents can enjoy being outside.


Dining room

The dining rooms are situated on the ground floor, and are connected to the lounge areas. Breakfast can be served in the resident’s own room. A continental breakfast will be available until 11.30am for those unable to eat at specific times. A varied menu is daily prepared in our modern, well equipped kitchen. Special needs are catered for as required, including diabetic and vegetarian diets alongside traditional home cooking, with the best local, fresh vegetables and produce.

Level access is available to all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas, including ramped access to car park and gardens.

The house is located in a predominantly rural setting, with the local economy centred on agriculture and tourism. The situation is ideal for guests seeking quality care in a peaceful, secure environment, while at the same time being able to enjoy the activities of normal daily life in a rural setting. Swimbridge is a small village, which lies around half a mile to the south of the nursing home. The site is accessed via a narrow lane that is a cul-de-sac. It is surrounded by fields and agricultural lands.
