VE Day Celebrations

we proudly came together to mark VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) with a celebration full of music, creativity, and remembrance. It was a wonderful opportunity to honour the brave men and women of the Second World War and celebrate the spirit of community that still unites us today.

Our residents enjoyed a week filled with themed arts and crafts, where they created vibrant decorations, to prepare for our home-wide celebrations. The creative energy and conversations these sessions sparked reminded us how meaningful this day is to so many.

The festivities continued with a special singalong session, where favourite wartime classics and nostalgic tunes filled the air. Residents joined in with great enthusiasm, many singing along and reminiscing about times past. It was a truly heartwarming moment.

We were also thrilled to welcome live entertainers who brought energy and joy to the afternoon. Their performances had toes tapping, hands clapping, and smiles all around as our home came alive with music.

To top off the celebration, we held a traditional VE Day street party in true British style! With tables decorated in red, white, and blue, residents enjoyed a spread of delicious food, cakes, and refreshing drinks outdoors (weather permitting!), surrounded by laughter, conversation, and patriotic pride.

Thank you to our staff, families, and entertainers who helped make the day so special. Events like VE Day remind us of the strength, courage, and resilience of our community — and we were honoured to celebrate it together.
